Vermont Gov. Phil Scott (R) has said the legislation is not “a priority for Vermont” and has not made a final decision as to whether he will sign it. The measure makes Vermont the ninth state to legalize recreational marijuana use among adults and the first to legalize through a legislative process. Other states have approved recreational marijuana use through ballot initiatives.

Nevada Dispensary’s can begin to sell recreational Marijuana in July 2017.

Licensed medical marijuana dispensaries in good standing with the state of Nevada can begin selling marijuana for recreational purposes as early as July 1, the state tax board voted Monday.

The Nevada Tax Commission voted 6-1 to approve temporary licenses for shops that qualify so sales can begin months before the Jan. 1 deadline for the commission to draft its rules. These temporary licenses will expire on Jan. 1, giving the state Department of Taxation time to test the regulations before the program goes into full effect in 2018.

Trump Spurns Congress as He Signals Medical Marijuana Fight

President Donald Trump signaled he may ignore a congressional ban on interfering with state medical marijuana laws, arguing in a lengthy statement that he isn’t legally bound by a series of limits lawmakers imposed on him.

Steve Bell, a senior adviser at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, said Trump’s signing statement signaled a desire to usurp power from the legislative branch.

“It is the constitutional prerogative of the Congress to spend money and to put limitations on spending,” Bell, a former staff director of the Senate Budget Committee and an aide to former Republican Senator Pete Domenici of New Mexico, said by phone. “This is an extremely broad assertion of executive branch power over the purse.”

Recreational marijuana may be headed back to the ballot in Arizona

Arizona Recreational Marijuana Ballot

[The Safer Arizona Cannabis Legalization Political Action Committee] has filed paperwork with the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office to begin collecting signatures to get recreational marijuana on the November 2018 ballot. It would need to collect 156,042 signatures from valid Arizona voters by July 5, 2018, to qualify.

While Arizona marijuana dispensary operators have clearly showed competency and willingness to provide marijuana safely to AZ residents, it is unlikely they will fund this campaign. A similar 2016 campaign ran by MPP, solicited donations mostly from Medical Marijuana Dispensary Owners and Investors. The campaign barely failed.

Considering the disappointment in turn out of supporting voters in this past presidential election, most feel their money will be better spent in 2020.

Lets hope the Trump Administration allows states, like Arizona, to continue to administer their own marijuana policies.

Legalize it, say Delaware marijuana backers of HB 110

Advocates for the legalization of cannabis and HB 110 in Delaware sponsor a march and rally in Rehoboth Beach on Saturday, May 6, 2017.

Passage of House Bill 110 would tax and regulate cannabis, which is legal for users with medical prescriptions but illegal for recreational users. Passage would save taxpayer dollars currently poured into law enforcement initiatives for arrests of users, generate a sustainable revenue source through taxation and boost business growth and job creation in the marijuana industry, said members of the Delaware Cannabis Advocacy Network that sponsored the Saturday, May 6 rally off the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach. The Cannabis Bureau of Delaware was a co-sponsor.
