In November 2012, Colorado state voters replaced cannabis prohibition with legalization and regulation for adults over 21. Subsequently, the first sale of recreational marijuana in Colorado began in 2014. Colorado has been leading of the cannabis industry with their revolutionary initiatives such as Ordinance 300.
In 2016 voters passed the Denver Initiated Ordinance 300, which authorizes adults to consume marijuana on the premises of certain businesses. It should be noted that Denver is now the first community in the U.S. to pass an ordinance that allows existing businesses to cater to recreational marijuana consumers. This has clearly caused the recreational marijuana market in Colorado to reach an all time high.
