In 2010 New Jersey adopted the Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act. On July 16, 2018, the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) has issued a Request for Applications (RFA) for up to six additional Alternative Treatment Centers (ATCs) in the state, two in each of the northern, southern and central regions. “Alternative treatment center” or “ATC” means the permitted alternative treatment center authorized to grow and provide registered qualifying patients with usable marijuana and related paraphernalia in accordance with the provisions of the “New Jersey Compassionate Use Marijuana Act”.
Who Oversees the NJ MMJ Program?
The Cannabis Regulatory Commission is responsible for the oversight of the medical marijuana program in New Jersey. The Commission has centered its work around creating and protecting access for patients, the production of safe products, and promoting diversity and inclusion in the industry to develop a national model for sensible, fair oversight.
