Current law limits the medical marijuana program in Minnesota to two medical cannabis manufacturers. House File 600 or HF600, passed the Minnesota House of Representatives, but not the Minnesota Senate. To legalize recreational use, the bill would need to pass both the House and Senate and be signed by the Governor.
Who Oversees the Medical Marijuana Program?
The Minnesota Department of Health oversees all aspects of the medical marijuana program in Minnesota. The department has registered two medical cannabis manufacturers: Vireo Health of Minnesota and Leafline Labs. Minnesota’s medical cannabis manufacturers are required to grow, process, and distribute medical cannabis to program participants. Minnesota law does not allow registration of additional medical cannabis manufacturers at this time.
