Iowa Code chapter 124E was enacted on May 12, 2017. The code established the Medical Cannabidiol Board and legalized medical marijuana in Iowa. The mission of the Office of Medical Cannabidiol (OMC) at the Iowa Department of Public Health is to have a high-quality, effective, and compliant medical cannabidiol program for Iowa residents with serious medical conditions.
Who Oversees the Medical Marijuana Program?
The Iowa OMC works to balance a patient’s need for access to treatment of their debilitating medical condition, with the requirement to ensure the safety and efficacy of products. The department will oversee all aspects of the program including the regulation of medical marijuana in Iowa through the state designated seed to sale tracking system.
Iowa Medical Sale Restrictions
The regulation of marijuana sales has defined purchase limitations for consumers. These limitations are outlined in the Iowa Dispensary Standard Operating Procedures.
Every business needs standard operating procedures to succeed and operate in a compliant manner. We have the following Iowa specific marijuana SOPs:
