Who Oversees the Medical Program in Illinois?

Two agencies oversee different aspects of the program. The Illinois Department of Public Health manages the registry by reviewing and processing applications and issuing registry cards to Illinois residents meeting program requirements. The Illinois Department of Public Health protects patient confidentiality while striving to ensure timely accessibility to cannabis for registered patients. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is in charge of the oversight of licensing and the regulation of medical marijuana dispensing organizations, dispensary agents, and agent education providers.
