Montana was one of the earliest US state’s to adopt medical marijuana laws, however the Montana Medical Marijuana Act (MMA) has seen many challenges and revisions since it was first passed into law in 2004. The most recent changes occurred when the 2017 Legislature passed SB333 creating more detailed regulations including matters of licensing and seed to sale tracking. The Department of Health and Human Services 2017-2018 Children, Families, Health and Human Services Interim Committee currently provides oversight of the MMA and monitors implementation of the law. The regulatory agencies have chosen Complia and METRC to enable licensing and seed to sale tracking.
